Four African artistes have been nominated for this year’s BET Awards and in this report, we’ll shed a light on them.

Tems (Nigeria) had two nominations, Wizkid (Nigeria) bagged three 3 nominations while Fireboy DML (Nigeria) and Major League DJz (South Africa) gained a nomination each.

Tems

Tems (Temilade Openiyi) is a Nigerian Music Artist, Singer-Song Writer, and upcoming music producer. She popped out in 2019 releasing inspirational music with her powerful Burnaboy like voice.

She figured out how to play the piano, and intensely expanded everything from Asa, Frank Ocean, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Beyoncé, and Rihanna, for their genuine enthusiastic substance.

Since the discharge of “Mr Rebel” in July, artist Tems has gotten the chance to team up with different craftsmen. Her single has just gathered a little yet grateful group of spectators however her intensity and keenness are unmistakable.

On Ladipoe’s “Falling”, her snare cruises over the preppy instrumentals unhurried, even though Poe was consistently there to adjust the pace.

“Tell Me Would You Let Me Go, I’m Out In The Ocean Now”, she sings on The Collectiv3’s “Kiss the Fire”, nearby (Show Dem Camp’s) Tec and Tomi Thomas who are upbeat (Profileability).

Major League DJz

Major League DJz is a South African hip-hop/kwaito music group made up of twin brothers Bandile and Banele Mbere, who have made a name for themselves in the music business with their diversified and distinctive djing style. The twin siblings were born on January 3, 1991, in Boston, Massachusetts, United States (Profileability).

Wizkid

Wizkid is an award winning artiste from Nigeria with several local and international awards to his name. His nickname is Starboy. His talent was nurtured by Banky W who he recently clashed with over loyalty and breach of contract.

Fireboy DML

His breakthrough single “Jealous” first appeared on YBNL Nation’s collaborative album YBNL Mafia Family (2018), before being re-released on 25 March 2019.

The song is composed of guitar riffs, traditional drums and percussion; it combines African harmonies with elements of country and soul music. “Jealous” was produced by Cracker Mallo and is centered around love and the complicated feelings that go along with it. The visuals for “Jealous” was directed by Director K.

On 14 June 2019, Fireboy DML released the romantic single “What If I Say”. It was produced by Pheelz, who incorporated a mix of percussion, ambient synth harmonies, and a drum riff into the production. The visuals for “What If I Say” was directed by TG Omori (Wikipedia).
