Sodiq Aremu, a 28-year-old Nigerian man, is said to have killed himself by plunging into the lagoon at Elegushi in the state of Lagos.

In a report submitted by Daily Trust, it was revealed that the dead traveled to the location of his suicide at about 11:00 pm on Wednesday, July 7, 2022.

According to a police statement that confirmed the tragic incident, Sodiq dropped a backpack he was carrying and dove into the river.

The corpse floated two days later, according to Lagos police spokesman SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who affirmed the occurrence.

According to additional information provided by Legit.NG, Hundeyin said the deceased was from the Ona Ara neighborhood of Ibadan, Oyo state, and that he had just dropped his luggage and dived into the water at Elegushi.

He affirmed:

“Consequently, a team of policemen from the Marine Unit of the state police command visited the scene. The photograph of the corpse was taken before the body was deposited at the morgue.”
