On Friday, a Chinese man whose identity is unknown followed one Ummukhulsum Buhari, popularly known as Ummita, to her home in Janbulo and allegedly murdered her for an unknown reason.
According to sources, the murder of Ummukhulsum said to be the Chinese’s girlfriend, occurred in Kano’s popular Janbulo quarters.

According to reports, the Chinese followed his victim into her Janbulo room and allegedly slit her throat. Before security agents arrived, some people were said to have apprehended the perpetrator.

The Chinese man was said to have been caught on a closed-circuit camera standing in a pool of blood inside his late girlfriend’s room.
In a viral video circulating in Kano, police were seen transporting the Chinese man in their Toyota Hilux van while preventing an angry crowd from attacking him.
Attempts to reach the state police spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, for comment on the matter were futile. As of the time this report was filed, he had not answered his phone or responded to a text message sent to his mobile phone.
