Contrary to the belief of many Ghanaians, the CEO of Charterhouse, Theresa Ayoade has disclosed that the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) hasn’t been canceled.
Theresa Ayoade in an interview on JoyNews disclosed that the awards show will take place in August this year.
Speaking to Emefa Apawu, Mrs. Ayoade explained that they decided to re-schedule it to August because they believe the Covid-19 restrictions would be relaxed by then.
VGMAs 2020 will happen, and we are looking at having the 2020 VGMAS in August. This is because by that time, the Covid-19 rules would have been relaxed a bit. The ceremony may not be exactly as it used to be in the past but obviously, with what is happening now, it’s going to be a downscale version,”
“The challenges of putting together logistics and not being sure of expected revenue is a real issue. In normal times, we will have been able to sell up to 4,000 tickets in VGMA-related events, but it is not so now,”
The 2020 VGMAs was supposed to take place at Accra Conference Center in February but it was suspended due to the Covid-19 outbreak which forced the country into lockdown.
