A female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto called Deborah Samuel was lynched to death by her colleagues over an uncorroborated blasphemy against Prophet Muhammed on Wednesday.
According to reports, she was stoned before she was set on fire by the enraged mob who are majorly students of the college after she made disparaging comments about the Prophet of Islam on WhatsApp platform.
In a video sighted by VOG and making rounds on the bird app, the deceased was captured being attacked violently until she fainted and was burnt to death.

Jamila, the first name of a student who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES said that a broadcast message which was sent to a Whatsapp Group triggered her reaction.
“It was that kind of message that will ask you to share with other groups if you don’t want evil to befall you,” said Jamila.
The late student said in a deleted voice note,
“Send us important information. This group was not created for you to send useless information. It was created for you to send past questions if there is a test or an assignment. It is not for you to send useless information. Which prophet?”
However, the voice note was saved and shared among friends in the school which set in motion an uproar.
Deborah couldn’t be saved by the school’s security according to close sources. She was stoned and burnt to death. The college authorities have declared the closure of the school and instructed that everyone leaves the school premises.
