The New Patriotic Party (NPP) polling station aspirants in the Heman Lower Denkyira Constituency of the Central Region have expressed excitement about the party’s National Electoral Mediation Committee’s recommendation for a re-run of 81 polling station elections in the Heman Lower Denkyira constituency.

According to the aspirants who claimed there were no polling station elections conducted in the constituency, they felt vindicated that the party’s committee had arrived at the same decision.

At a news conference at Twifo Hemang, the aspirants prevailed on the National Executive Committee of the party to take action on the recommendations of the committee for peace to prevail in the constituency.

The polling station aspirants have been agitating in the constituency and the regional offices of the party following what they described as fraudulent elections that were conducted in the constituency.

After a series of allegations and protests, the aspirants petitioned the party’s electoral mediation committee.

They stated at the news conference that they had had word that the committee’s report had vindicated their position, and the purpose of the news conference was to thank the committee and its chairperson, Madam Cecelia Abena Dapaah, for the good work done.

They added that they were only waiting for confirmation from the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party on the validation of the decision taken by the party’s electoral mediation committee.

The spokesperson of the polling station aspirants, Christopher Ampoful, explained that they are excited that a decision that reflects the true picture of the situation has been reached by the committee.

“This press conference was necessitated by the outcome of the mediation committee that vindicated our position that polling station elections were indeed not held in the constituency and that there was a need to re-run the elections in all the 81 polling stations,” he stated.
