VGMA Will Only Be Credible When I'm Crowned Artiste Of The Year - Guru

Guru Sends Strong Message To Fellow Ghanaian Musicians. Ghanaian rapper, Maradona Yeboah Adjei, well known as Guru, has advised his colleagues to stop competing against themselves.

The ‘Lapaz Toyota’ composer in a recent interview on Bryt TV postulated the need for Ghanaian musicians to target the world market instead of competing among themselves in the country.

“The competition is not in Ghana here…it’s out there in the world. We have to start looking beyond Ghana else Ghana music will remain only in Ghana,” he said.

Guru also sang the praises of Samini on his creativity and how good he is when it comes to live performances.

“Samini is a legend and he isn’t celebrated often like he should. He has been undermined for too long…no artiste can perform better than Samini when it comes to live shows…he can just look at my shoes and create a perfect lyric with it,” he stated. Omar Sterling Announces Solo Album, R2Bees Album And Mugeez's EP

Omar Sterling Announces Solo Album, R2Bees Album And Mugeez’s EP. Ghanaian hip-hop musician Omar Sterling has announced his first solo album and its release date. The “Nineteen Ninety” rapper, who is a member of hiplife/afrobeats duo R2Bees, has taken to Twitter to announce that he is ready to release his first ever solo album.

Formerly known as Paedae, the rapper said the album is titled “Same Earth Different Worlds” and is set to launched this month, September.

He revealed this in a tweet in August, saying: “My debut album SAME EARTH DIFFERENT WORLDS drops next month”.

And on Monday, September 8, he announced another news of an album release from his group and a solo EP from his mate, Mugeez.

According to him, R2Bees album will be out in October, followed by Mugeez’s EP scheduled for release in December this year.

“Omar Sterling album this month. R2bees album next month. Mugeez EP December,” he tweeted.

He, however, refused to give more details about his project and that of his group and Mugeez.

It’s unclear who will feature on his album and the producers behind it, including the exact launch date and venue.

This is not the first solo project by Omar Sterling.

In 2016, he released a solo mixtape album, titled “Victory through Harmony”. It’s an 18-track project which features Mugeez and Wizkid, and other rising stars.

He is also a successful solo artiste, with hit singles like “Nineteen Ninety”, “Damba Flow”, “Casino Freestyle” and “Bob Marley.” Omar Sterling Announces Solo Album, R2Bees Album And Mugeez’s EP.

Kuami Eugene is not a highlife musician – K.K Kabobo

“Kuami Eugene is not a highlife musician” – K.K Kabobo

“Kuami Eugene is not a highlife musician” – K.K Kabobo. Ghanaian highlife guru K.K Kabobo says he does not see the 2020 VGMA Artiste of the Year, Kuami Eugene as a typical highlife musician.

According to him, Kofi Kinaaat stands tall amongst all the contemporary highlife artistes in the country. He made this known in an exclusive interview on YFM’s ‘Ryse N Shyne’ show which was hosted by Chelsy Sey.

’ Yes I know Kuame Eugene, but Kuame plays a different kind of highlife. When you listen to him, you automatically hear a highlife rhythm, but it is not a typical highlife.

‘’Every generation comes with its rhythm of highlife music, that is why you hear things like Borga highlife, Reggae highlife. Highlife is what you will call a multi-genre-genre’’ he said.

When K.K Kabobo was asked to give his list of current highlife artiste in Ghana he admires, he didn’t include the 2020 VGMA Highlife Artiste of the Year, Kuami Eugene in the list.

‘’I like Kofi Kinanta and it is not because he is from Takoradi, but because he is a great highlife musician. I also like Bisa K’dei too. Ofori Amponsah and Kofi Nti also do very good highlife’’ he stated.

In explaining why the highlife genere is not as viable as it used to be, K.K Kabobo said the trade has been infiltrated by individuals who are pursuing their selfish agendas and not conceend about the relevance of what they do.

‘’Highlife is going down because there are no producers. All the Executive Producers jump onto the genre that is trending. If gospel is trending they jump on to it. If you want to play authentic highlife, the producer will say no instead play it like this. That is why highlife is going down’’ he said. “Kuami Eugene is not a highlife musician” – K.K Kabobo.
