Construction of film village has no venue yet – Tourism Minister. Minister for Tourism, Arts And Culture, Barbara Oteng Gyasi has dismissed claims by the Creative Arts Forum in the Ashanti Region over the relocation of the proposed film village from Kunsu to Sekyere in the Region.

The Minister in a stakeholder meeting in Kumasi, Friday, September 18, 2020 said the Government of Ghana among other agencies partnered for the construction had not settled on a site for the film village yet.

“A decision has not been taken yet on the exact site for the Film Village yet although we know it would be built in the Ashanti Region. We have so far been presented with three (3) sites including Hemang, Sekyere and Kunsu” she said.

Madam Barbara Oteng Gyasi however assured industry players off plans to assist the already existing film village in Kunsi to access the Ghana Tourism Development Project Fund for site developers to help them continue production ahead of the intended new project.

The construction of the film village has become a topical issue in the Creative Arts Industry with many Industry stakeholders opposing the venue for the construction.

Members of the Creative Forum Ashanti led by broadcaster Austine Woode held a press conference last Wednesday, September 16, 2020, to register their displeasure over the relocation move.

According to them, they had already petitioned government explaining to it, efforts put in place to secure about 250-300 acres of land for the film village at Kunsu.

The group said discussions with the Chief of Kunsu, in the Ahafo Ano South District in the Ashanti Region, had already been had to that effect.

“This decision was reached because the Chief of Kunsu had already built a mini film village in his town and used for many movie productions like ‘Abuburo Kosua’ ‘Susu Pre’ and others that show on TV. Many industry practitioners also confirmed to us that many of the film projects from the Ashanti Region are done in the Ahafo Ano South District of Ghana that harbours Kunsu,” Austine, the convener of the group, said.

This comes on the back of a petition that the group presented to Parliament on July 24, 2019, to change the initial location of the proposed film village by the Government of Ghana in the 2019 budget statement presented to Parliament by Ken Ofori-Atta from Eastern Region to Ashanti Region. Video : Mahama Got Over 30 Girlfriends But Akuffo Addo Got 0 – Abronye DC. The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Abronye DC, says President Akufo-Addo has no girlfriends.

He said unlike others in the NDC, the president does not waste Ghana’s tax on buying houses for women – Abronye believes the NDC has nothing better to offer Ghanaians but rather uses tax payers’ money on girlfriends.

Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, has said that unlike some leaders in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Akufo-Addo has no girlfriends.

He said emphatically that the president does not waste Ghana’s money to buy houses and other luxuries for women like those in the NDC do. Abronye DC was speaking in an interview with Peace FM in a video sighted by Kenney Blaze.

According to him, the NDC was against some of the policies Akufo-Addo and the NPP advocated in the run-up to the 2016 elections, saying that they were not possible.

He mentioned, for instance, that the NDC was against the president’s free SHS policy. However, now that the president has made it a reality, the NDC is preaching “making it better” if they should be voted for. Abronye also said he is privy to information that when the NDC was in power, many girlfriends benefited than Ghanaians.

Ofori Amponsah Warns Fellow Musicians To Stay Away From Awards With No Money Attached

Ofori Amponsah Warns Fellow Musicians To Stay Away From Awards With No Money Attached. Musician Ofori Amponsah has called on colleague musicians to start boycotting awards schemes that do not provide anything valuable but just plaques.

According to him, the musicians and their influence is the reason why award organizers get access to money for sponsorship so if there is nothing valuable than just a plaque, there is the need for artistes to start boycotting award schemes.

To him, the focus on just awards has made a number of artistes in the country poor and they have to beg before they can feed their family.

For him, he has already taken a stance on the issue but is calling on his colleagues to have a rethink because they are enriching others while they continue to wallow in abject poverty.

“For me if someone calls me for an award and he/she does not give me money I won’t go. If they won’t give me anything valuable I won’t go.

I past receiving plaques. I have decided and I’m calling on all my colleagues to do same or else they are the same people who will laugh at us in future. It’s because of the musicians the people come to fill the venue.

It’s because of the musician that the sponsorship comes through. If there is a programme and they can give out a house as the price, then why can’t they do the same for artistes?” he said while speaking in an interview with Accra-based Adom FM.
