“Kuami Eugene is not a highlife musician” – K.K Kabobo

“Kuami Eugene is not a highlife musician” – K.K Kabobo. Ghanaian highlife guru K.K Kabobo says he does not see the 2020 VGMA Artiste of the Year, Kuami Eugene as a typical highlife musician.

According to him, Kofi Kinaaat stands tall amongst all the contemporary highlife artistes in the country. He made this known in an exclusive interview on YFM’s ‘Ryse N Shyne’ show which was hosted by Chelsy Sey.

’ Yes I know Kuame Eugene, but Kuame plays a different kind of highlife. When you listen to him, you automatically hear a highlife rhythm, but it is not a typical highlife.

‘’Every generation comes with its rhythm of highlife music, that is why you hear things like Borga highlife, Reggae highlife. Highlife is what you will call a multi-genre-genre’’ he said.

When K.K Kabobo was asked to give his list of current highlife artiste in Ghana he admires, he didn’t include the 2020 VGMA Highlife Artiste of the Year, Kuami Eugene in the list.

‘’I like Kofi Kinanta and it is not because he is from Takoradi, but because he is a great highlife musician. I also like Bisa K’dei too. Ofori Amponsah and Kofi Nti also do very good highlife’’ he stated.

In explaining why the highlife genere is not as viable as it used to be, K.K Kabobo said the trade has been infiltrated by individuals who are pursuing their selfish agendas and not conceend about the relevance of what they do.

‘’Highlife is going down because there are no producers. All the Executive Producers jump onto the genre that is trending. If gospel is trending they jump on to it. If you want to play authentic highlife, the producer will say no instead play it like this. That is why highlife is going down’’ he said. “Kuami Eugene is not a highlife musician” – K.K Kabobo.

Check Out A List of 13 Ghanaian Celebs And Politicians Who Received The Fake UN Awards. Social media is presently on fire after an alleged scammer identified as Kwame Owusu Fodjour pulled off the biggest stunt in the history of Ghana by holding and awarding fake awards to heavyweights in the entertainment industry and some politicians in Ghana.

The now infamous ceremony took place on August 28, 2020, which saw Ghanaian personalities being honoured for their accomplishments in their various fields of endeavour. Among the persons who rewarded were NPP’s firebrand, Benjamin Antwi Bosiako alias Wontumi, rapper Sarkodie, Daughter of Glorious Jesus, Berla Mundi and DJ Black.

The fake award scheme was dubbed Global Leadership Service to Humanity Awards but apparently everything was fake as the UN has no hand in it. The awardees were presented with plaques of “UN Kofi Annan Excellence Awards” which drew a link between the scheme, the UN, and the late Kofi Annan.

These personalities proudly took photos of their awards and posted them on their various social media handles, a situation that has exposed how obsessed Ghanaians are with awards.

Guru Reveals Names Of VGMA Board Members Who Made Sure He Never Wins An Award

Guru Reveals Names Of VGMA Board Members Who Made Sure He Never Wins An Award. Veteran Ghanaian rapper Guru has finally let the “cat out of the bag” as to why he never wins Ghana Music Award despite releasing hit songs over the years.

According to the NKZ Boss, “Kasiebo” song by Obrafuor which he got the chance to be featured on was a blessing and at a point in time also caused problems for him and some industry players which the song was directed to.

Talking of blessings, Ghanaians accepted him and he rose to fame after the Kasiebo song but according to Guru, some artistes whose names were “indirectly” mentioned in the Kasiebo song sabotaged him when they got the chance to head positions at the Musician Union Of Ghana (MUSIGA) office.

According to Guru, Obour,Richie Mensah and Okyeame Kwame who never subscribed to the Kasiebo song because Guru and Obrafuor punched them so hard on that record, made sure he (Guru) never won any Ghana Music Award even though he won several nominations. Obour is a former president of MUSIGA, Okyeame Kwame is the former PRO of MUSIGA and Richie Mensah is part of VGMA selection committee.

“I was denied working with Kuami Eugene and Kidi by their label boss”; Guru said this on LTS on Joy News.Guru Reveals Names Of VGMA Board Members Who Made Sure He Never Wins An Award.

Kawabanga – Akatafoc ft. O’Kenneth, Reggie & Jay Bahd

Kawabanga – Akatafo) ft. O’Kenneth, Reggie & Jay Bahd. Kawabanga Releases ‘Akatafoc’ and it features O’Kenneth, Reggie & Jay Bahd
It’s quite astounding to see a genre like ‘Drill’ sprouting in the Kumasi. One of the biggest songs in Ghana right now is a drill song by Kumasi based artists – Dead Peepol and Rich Kant titled ‘Otan Hunu’.

Another song is making waves on social media with the same drill sentiments titled ‘Akatafoc’. This is a song by Kawabanga featuring O’Kenneth, Reggie & Jay Bahd , all based in Kumasi.

Without doubt , it’s evident there’s a Pop Smoke influence in there. The demise of American rapper , Pop Smoke exposed a lot of people to his music out here in Ghana. His highly recognizable worldwide hit ‘Dior’ became a scheme for rappers who wanted to join the drill culture. Till date , fast-rising rappers not just in Ghana are churning out freestyles with verses laid on the instrumental for ‘Dior’.

With a voice as soothing as heavy duty industrial machinery laced with a tense beat , Kawabanga and his colleagues are embarking on a mayhem with their new release ‘Akatafo)’. The word ‘Akatafo)’ is a commonly used lingo in Ghana to label someone who loves to dress in a funky style .

Kumasi is the new home for drill music. The successful releases of the two Kumasi-made drill joints will impact the style of music made out there thus creating an avenue for all the rappers to give it a shot since its become their easiest way now to rise to stardom.

Take a listen below before it’s too late to catch up with the wave. Kawabanga – Akatafoc ft. O’Kenneth, Reggie & Jay Bahd.
